What is the difference between an open inkwell and a closed ink cup?
The open inkwell is a tray over which the blade sweeps the cliché; it is simple, but the ink is exposed to the air and the viscosity has to be corrected during the shift. The closed ink cup is a sealed cup that moves over the cliché and acts as the blade: it keeps the ink isolated and stabilises the viscosity.
